The Religious Education Program provides instruction in the Catholic faith tradition to families whose children are enrolled in the city’s public schools. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM – 7:45 PM, September through April. Groups are small with an average size of ten. The program includes grade levels one through eight.
What does it “take” to be a catechist?
Mainly, a desire to pass on the faith. It also helps to be creative, organized, and to have had experience working with children. Catechists are encouraged to think outside of the box in developing lessons that capture the attention of young ones, who have already put in a full day of school.
Is it easy? No. Is it rewarding? Very. If you have a desire to pass on the faith to children, please contact us.
