What are we going to do for Christmas? This is the question that inevitably comes up every Thanksgiving as I gather with my family. We discuss and decide how we will celebrate Christmas. There are two decisions that need to be made. The first is whether we will do a White Elephant for gifts, exchange gifts, or draw names. We decided to a White Elephant. The second is to when during the Christmas Season that we will gather with the extended family. Each year for as long as I can remember, my parents hosted my dad’s family for an open house, usually the Sunday after Christmas Day. The Christmas Season is a time that we invite and/or are invited to others homes to celebrate the Season.

As we come to this Advent and Christmas Season and we are all planning on what invitations we will accept and also to whom we will send invitations. May I suggest that you consider inviting someone to join you for the celebrations here at the Church? Below are the dates and times of a number of celebrations. It is a good opportunity to invite back those who have gone away from the Church or to invite an unchurched neighbor to join you for one of the celebrations. During this season we share our gifts with others, why not share the most important gift of faith?

Come and join us and invite another to the many celebrations this Advent and Christmas Season. On behalf of myself, Fr. Mark, and the entire staff here at St. Pius X; we wish you a Very Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy and Holy New Year!

Your brother in Christ,
Fr. Mike Eckley Pastor
